Winter's Energy Bills Are Most Probably To Increase

Can you believe that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner? Family and friends get togethers, dusting off skis or for some lucky few…going down south! This is when many of us wonder what Mother Nature will hold for us this winter. There is a high degree of certainty that regardless of temperatures, our heating bills will be higher because of the run up in price for oil and gas. The question of ‘how much’ will depend on how Mother Nature will treat La Niña.

NOAA is an outlier to other forecasters with warmer than average temperatures while the rest give us fair warning to bundle up and stretch as a prep for shoveling.

Here are what some experts are predicting.

Farmer’s Almanac

Grab Your Gloves! Fetch Your Fleece! Winter is going to be a season of flip-flop conditions with notable polar coaster swings in temperatures as it was last year.

NOAA

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration once again differentiates itself from other prognosticators with the forecast of an equal chance of seeing above, near, or below normal precipitation, according to NOAA.  But a better chance of a warmer than average winter.

AccuWeather

The weather forecasting company is predicting a similar winter from 2019 2020 with a mid-winter thaw and an above-normal snow season is ahead for the Northeast.

Old Farmer’s Almanac

Calls this winter the ‘Season of Chivers’ with the northeast having a cold and snowy forecast.

So no matter of the outcome, there is something for everybody. My wish is to have a white Christmas and temperatures in the 20 to 30 degree range.

Finally, all of us at Neighborhood Energy are thankful and privileged to serve you. We appreciate you entrusting us with your energy needs. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
