The Third Party Gift

In August, this column projected utility rates starting January 1, 2022. It was anticipated to have increases ranging from 30% to 87%! A review with actuals shows that the increases are higher with a maximum going to Unitil NH of 144% jumping from $0.056 to $0.14!

The table below is an extended version of the August report that covers most utilities in New England. It is expected to have some rate relief in the second half of 2022, but it will remain at levels higher than in recent years.

The good news for our Neighborhood Energy customers is the cost avoidance gift that each will realize because of locking-in lower rates. This should help to offset the increases with other goods and services over the last several months.

As we close an interesting 2021, we, at Neighborhood Energy, are thankful and honored to serve you. We wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Your Friendly Neighborhood Energy.
